Double fatal car accident near Waupun Saturday

Driving too fast for conditions appears to have been a factor in a double fatal car accident Saturday afternoon  west of Waupun.  According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s office, two men identified as 56 year old Daniel Emmer and 27-year-old Brian Emmer, both of Brandon, Wisconsin, died at the scene of the accident on State HWY 49 just south of Whooley Road.

The investigation found that the elder Emmer lost control of his vehicle on the snow covered highway, crossed the centerline and collided with a northbound vehicle.    The driver of the second vehicle, 43-year-old Amy Huenink and her 14-year-old passenger Haley Heunink, also from Brandon, were transported to a local hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

Highway 49 was closed in both directions for about three house as crews worked at the scene.  The preliminary investigation indicates that driving too fast for conditions and failure to maintain control of a vehicle appearS to be factors in the crash.
