Door County Candle Co. creates 'Maui' candle, with profits going to wildfire relief efforts

DOOR COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Door County Candle Company is stepping up to help those impacted by the fires in Maui.

The Ukrainian-American candle shop raised more than $1 million in donations for Ukraine when war broke out.

With raging infernos torching the Hawaiian island of Maui, Door County Candle Company says they were "compelled to take action."

The company created a candle called "Maui," and with each purchase of the candle a portion of the profits will be donated to the American Red Cross for Maui Wildlife Relief fund.

The Maui candle has a scent of Liliko'i, a Hawaiin passionfruit.

A post on the Door County Candle Company's website reads in part:

"Today, our hearts are heavy as we witness the challenges facing Maui and its community. In this time of adversity, we're standing hand in hand with the American Red Cross, channeling our dedication into tangible aid for those affected by the wildfires. A portion of the profits from every 16oz Liliko’i candle sold will contribute to the ongoing wildfire relief efforts.

With every scent-filled moment and each flicker of the Liliko’i candle, you're standing beside us, transforming compassion into action. Together, we're making a difference, illuminating the darkness with hope, support, and love."
