Dole recalls salads containing Iceberg lettuce for listeria concerns

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Dole Fresh Vegetables, Inc. has voluntarily recalled Dole-branded and private label packaged salads that contain iceberg lettuce due to possible health risks from listeria.

The recall is for salads processed at its Springfield, OH and Soledad, CA production facilities.

According to the US Food and Drug Administration, Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Products subject to the voluntary recall from Springfield, OH are identified by a product lot code beginning with the letter “W” and a “Best if Used By” date between December 22, 2021 and January 9, 2022.
