Dogs rescued from Racine house fire Wednesday night

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Two dogs were rescued from a burning home Wednesday, Aug. 6 near Buchanan and Hamilton in Racine, according to the Racine Fire Department.

Crews were reportedly called at 8:29 p.m. for reports of a fire on a back porch. Engine 1 arrived on scene within four and a half minutes and found flames extending into the first and second floors of the house.

No one was home at the time. Firefighters rescued the dogs during the response. Both animals are alive and well.

The fire was under control within 30 minutes, with total loss stopped at 45 minutes. Damage was estimated at $50,000 to the home and $10,000 to the contents inside.
