Racine Fire Department: Dog, cat killed in house fire

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A dog and a cat were killed in a house fire on Monday afternoon.

It happened around 12:47 p.m. in the 1000 block of Jones Avenue.

According to the Racine Fire Department, a resident arrived home and discovered that his home had caught fire, leaving a substantial amount of smoke and fire damage throughout.

The fire was extinguished by Racine Firefighters who had remained on scene to check for any extension.

A back bedroom was heavily damaged and there was a partial collapse of the floor.

The occupants lost one dog and one cat, the Fire Department confirms. 

There were no other injuries.

The fire remains under investigation.
