Dodge County Sheriff issues reminder of traffic changes during the U.S. Open at Erin Hills

With the  2017 US Open activities at Erin beginning today and running through Sunday, June 18, driver in Dodge County, which is less than a mile from the golf course, will see some traffic changes.  With an estimated 20,000 to 40,000 fan and workers traveling to the area daily, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office said traffic flows around the Dodge/Washington County lines will be affected.

In a news release issued by the Dodge County Sheriff, beginning Monday, from 5 AM through 9 PM each day of the event, traffic on Dodge County Highway O near the event will be closed to all traffic which does not have a pass to access the area.  Non-U.S. Open traffic will be detoured north onto County Highway P to State Highway 60, east to the City of Hartford, then south on State Highway 83 and vice versa.

Traffic will be highly controlled in the area by the Wisconsin State Patrol. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office will have extra deputies assigned to the area in anticipation of the extra traffic and expected number of visitors to the area.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office asks motorists to be patient and cautious if travelling in the area during the event, and to avoid  if possible.

Additional information can be obtained by contacting Sheriff Dale J Schmidt.
