MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee's Echelon Chapter of the Salvation Army enjoyed dinner al fresco on Friday evening.
The event, 'Dinner in the Alley' wasn't in an alley, however. Rather, it was in front of City Hall. There was also music and a live painting.
People there say the event is part of a bigger fundraising and awareness effort.
"This goes to support not only just awareness about Salvation Army and homelessness in Milwaukee but it also helps us fundraise for the events that we put on and the donations that we take throughout the year to help the Salvation Army," said Mary Pelkofer, Co-President of Echelon Milwaukee.
In the fall, Echelon members transform the Salvation Army homeless shelter into a 5-star dining experience.
They partner with local chefs to create the meal.
Echelon members serve the guests.
