Despite increase in price, gas is still cheaper than one year ago

The price of gasoline continues to go up in the Milwaukee area.  In the past week the average price of gas has gone up over 16-cents a gallon.  According to GasBuddy.com’s survey of 615 gas outlets in Milwaukee, the average price of gas now sits at $1.97 a gallon, more than 50-cents higher than just one month ago.  The price is also about four cents higher than the national average of $1.93 per gallon.

Despite the recent increases, the average price is still more than 33-cents less than it was at the same time as one year ago.  Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy says motorists could see the cheapest average summer gasoline prices in over a decade.
