Department of Public Works Removes Memorial for Sylville Smith

The memorial for Syville Smith at 44th an Auer was taken down on Wednesday. 

According to Milwaukee Police Department, it was removed by the Department of Public Works at Alderman Rainey's request. 

According to Milwaukee Police, residents of Sherman Park were continuing to see quality of life issues and wanted the gatherings to end. 

MPD has seen incidents of loud music and public drinking in the recent weeks leading up to the memorial being removed. 

Smith was armed when he was shot and killed by police in August.
