Debris filled house hampers firefighting efforts

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A vacant, boarded up house filled with debris was damaged by fire early Saturday morning in Milwaukee.

According to Milwaukee Fire officials, smoke was showing from the house near N 12th St. and W Juneau Ave. when firefighters arrived around 1:30 a.m.

Fire crews had to remove the boards from the vacant building, but still could not gain access because of what is described as a massive amount of debris filling the structure. Firefighters had to battle the blaze from the outside of the building.

Fire damaged is reported on all floors of the 2.5-story building. There is no dollar estimate of the damage available as of yet, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

No one was injured while fighting the fire.
