Daughters of Martin Luther King and Rabbi Heschel to speak at Milwaukee event

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Bernice King, the youngest child of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is making an appearance on Sunday in Milwaukee.

She'll speak at the Pabst Theater along with Susannah Heschel, the daughter of Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel. Their program is called "Praying with Their Feet: A Conversation with Bernice King and Susannah Heschel.”

Rabbi Heschel joined Dr. King at the civil rights March in Selma, Alabama in 1965. Their daughters' joint appearance is presented by the Milwaukee Urban League and the Jewish Community Center.

"Yes, we look forward to hearing the stories of what life was like to be a daughter growing up in the home of these people that we've heard so much about. But it's also been their journey, as leaders, as educators, as leaders of civil rights and feminism and all the things that are important to them," said Mark Shapiro, President and CEO of the Jewish Community Center.

The community event will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 4th at the Pabst Theater. It will be a free, ticketed event. While limited, two tickets per registered attendee will be available for reservation at jccmilwaukee.org/kingheschel
