Dangerous heat index moves in to parts of SE Wisconsin Tuesday and Wednesday

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee and other parts of SE Wisconsin will see dangerously high heat indices beginning at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 14 and lasting until 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 14.



The Milwaukee Health Department has issued a Heat Health Advisory ahead of high temperatures expected for Tuesday and Wednesday. The NWS forecast indicates heat index values of 100 to 105 degrees are expected across the area on Tuesday afternoon and again on Wednesday afternoon.

It will be an issue for nearly everyone, but especially those without power. As of 9:30 a.m., We Energies has been restored to more than 25,000 of the 45,000 who lost power Monday night. More than 500 people are working on restoration efforts. We Energies expects to have 80-90% of customers restored by noon and the rest restored or assigned by 7 p.m. Tuesday.
