WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- There's some resolution in the ongoing legal battle over a condemned condominium building in Waukesha, but it's not necessarily good news for condo owners.
Friday, June 23, the city of Waukesha agreed they'll tear down Horizon West condominiums by Oct. 1, even though there's a separate legal battle brewing at the federal level. Condo owners are suing Travelers Insurance, hoping they won't have to contribute to demolition costs, two years after they were forced to flee their homes forever.
"To kind of feel like there is a light of some sort at the end of the tunnel, might not be tomorrow, but to know that the end might be coming soon is a good thing because I think all of us as owners just want to be able to move on with our lives," said Laurel Peterson, condo owner.
There's no date yet for the federal lawsuit. If it sides with Travelers Insurance, Horizon West condo owners could be on the hook for tens of thousands of dollars.
