Construction may cause delays near the US-41/45 Split in Washington County

Expect delays for your Morning Commute if you travel from the Richfield area at the US-41/45 Split in the southbound direction.  Long term lane closures are now in place along this stretch of highway for the next year as crews begin the reconstruction process.

Some of the highlights that this rebuild entails will be minor realignment and widening of the ramps near the split as well as bridge rebuilding upgrading their traffic signals leading to the highways and the installation of a high friction surface treatment which should help drivers during the winter months.

These lane closures will mostly impact the Morning Commute so if you are traveling from the north, plan on plenty of extra time until drivers get used to these new closures.  The Department of Transportation is expecting these closures to add close to 30 extra minutes to that morning drive.

Traffic Anchor Andy Brovelli will be keeping a close eye on this stretch of roadway throughout the reconstruction process.  Stay up to date by following him on Twitter @Abrovelli and watching the CBS 58 Morning News!
