Complaint: Woman kidnapped from Milwaukee parking garage, sexually assaulted

Milwaukee County Jail

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee man is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say a woman was kidnapped from a local parking garage and assaulted.

James A. Cole, 57 of Milwaukee, allegedly forced the victim to drive him to multiple locations under the threat of violence and assaulted her.

A criminal complaint notes that Cole used an 8-9" long knife to threaten the victim, who was sitting in her car at the Grand Avenue parking garage at 275 W. Wisconsin Ave. just after 9 a.m. on Monday, April 8.

Cole is then described as coercing the victim to drive him away from the scene. The complaint notes multiple locations where Cole made the victim stop her car so that he could assault her.

Milwaukee police were alerted to what happened when the victim sought medical attention and provided a detailed account to MPD. The investigation led to Cole’s arrest after his fingerprints were identified on the victim’s vehicle.

Cole was arrested and charged with first-degree sexual assault using a dangerous weapon, kidnapping and armed robbery.

During a subsequent interview, the criminal complaint quotes Cole admitting to several actions described by the victim.

Formal charges were filed in Milwaukee County.

Cole's bond was set at $500,000. He's due in court for a preliminary hearing on April 22.
