Thanksgiving has been cold, but quiet for travel. We can say the same for Black Friday. But then, things change in a big way heading into the weekend. A Winter Storm Watch has been posted for all of southern Wisconsin. This will be our first widespread significant snowfall of the season. Here are the counties included in this watch:
Snow showers will begin to creep in Saturday morning, but likely still light and scattered in nature. Then the snow turns widespread and may come down heavily at times during the afternoon and evening. Additionally, as winds come off the lake we could see some enhancement there too. By Sunday morning the snow becomes scattered and lighter again, finally ending by the afternoon. At this time we are looking for the potential of over six inches of snow in many places, including our largest cities. While winds during the duration of this event will not be as strong as what we battled through the last two days, breezy conditions will aid in reduced visibility, especially during the times where snowfall rates hover at a half to 3/4" per hour. Winds will be brisk on the backside of this system Sunday so blowing snow may still provide some travel troubles. We will continue to monitor conditions closely the next 36 hours with continuous updates here, check back for updates!
