Co-sleeping suspected in death of 40-day-old infant

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office investigated the death of 40-day-old Taniyah Hinton. Preliminary reports suggest the child died, because she was co-sleeping with her parents.

According to the medical examiner's report, Taniyah fell asleep in her mother's arms. Her father was also in the bed when she was found unresponsive.

The infant's father performed CPR until emergency responders arrived. She was transported to Aurora Sinai Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 2:45 a.m. on October 18th.

The mother tells investigators she was not intoxicated, and only had a cigarette before going to sleep. Investigators found no evidence of alcohol abuse or illicit drug use in the residence of Taniyah's parents.
