City of Waukesha to hold 'reverse' Fourth of July parade, cancels fireworks display

WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The City of Waukesha announced on social media Friday that this year, they will hold a reverse 4th of July parade.

Parade units will be stationed along a route, and those attending the parade will stay inside their vehicles and drive the route.

Those attending will be encouraged to decorate their vehicles.

The city says the reverse parade will "allow for public participation while maintaining social distancing."

More details will be announced at a later date.

The City of Waukesha also decided to cancel the annual fireworks display due to "a variety of logistical issues including the need to maintain social distancing and the amount of traffic expected."
