MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Today might not be May 5, but the Mexican community in Milwaukee got together on the city's south side for some Cinco de Mayo fun.
This weekend bash honors Mexico's victory over the French empire's invasion in 1862.
The event had everything from traditional music, dance, and food. There was a tamale contest, a chihuahua beauty contests, and a car show.
CBS 58 spoke with one local business owner who tells us what it means to celebrate.
"We celebrate it because we know that the community's all going to get together, especially here in UMOS, because if you see around, it's family. It's a family, it's a family event. So, there's nothing better than celebrating with family," said Nattalie Estrada, owner of Aguitas Eva.
There will be plenty of festivities tomorrow at places like The Zocolo Food Park, The Cooperage, and Element Lounge.
