Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele announced today that Festival Pro LLC, on behalf of Milwaukee County Parks and The Park People of Milwaukee County, has entered into an agreement with the Sichuan Tianyu Culture Communication Co., Ltd. in cooperation with Zigong City and the Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce, to bring back the wildly popular China Lights, a world-class lantern festival.
Tri City National Bank will present China Lights: The Magic Returns from Sept. 22–Oct. 22 at Boerner Botanical Gardens, 9400 W. Boerner Drive in Hales Corners, WI
This is the 2nd year the event has received grant funding through The Wisconsin Department of Tourism, Travel Wisconsin’s Joint Effort Marketing Grant Program
The 2017 festival will feature
- · Nearly 50 handmade, brilliantly lighted, giant-sized lantern displays – “The show is 95 percent brand new; only the two most popular displays are returning”
- · More than 1,000 components will make up the themed displays
- · Two stages for Chinese folk-culture activities, with performers from China
- · Two dining areas and six new food vendors with a variety of Asian and Western menu options
“Boerner Botanical Gardens has been the best venue in North America to view this show,” said Kristen J. Talbott, senior vice president of Tri City National Bank. “The garden spaces and displays are flawlessly integrated. We are so pleased to be presenting this amazing experience.”
