MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- An estimated 3,000 people attended what the Bay View Neighborhood Association calls a success, with music, fun and food trucks bringing people together Tuesday night.

"We just settled on a good old classic hot dog. They're cheap and they looked really good and just a couple guys working, so I figured support, I guess," said Olivia Rapp and Allison Billingsley, MIAD students.

Some brought their own food to this first night of Chill on the Hill. We had great weather, with a bit of a chill in the air.

Many of the thousands who filled the hill are from the 53207 ZIP code. They brought blankets and chairs, babies and puppies.

"Dogs are allowed. We prefer that they're on a nice, short leash and we prefer that they like to be around a lot of people because there are a lot of people," said Patty Thompson, executive producer of Chill on the Hill. "You can bring your kitty cat. We've had a couple. I think I've even seen a bird."

This is the 18th season for Chill on the Hill.

It's every Tuesday through the end of August, starting at 6:30 p.m.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The community music series "Chill on the Hill" is returning to Bay View with its 18th season. This event is organized by the Bay View Neighborhood Association in conjunction with Milwaukee County Parks.

Scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start on Tuesday, June 6, the Humboldt Park Band Chalet will come alive with the tunes of Shamewave and Collections of Colonies of Bees.

Jessica Gebhardt, Chill on the Hill Project Manager, described the event in a June 6 press release as "a Bay View favorite, and we are proud to bring it to our neighbors and friends." She continued, "The Bay View Neighborhood Association's mission is to connect neighbors for a better Bay View. Chill on the Hill does that the entire summer!"

Among the modifications this season are an expanded footprint in Humboldt Park that will accommodate a growing crowd, with the space between the Band Chalet and the Vine Beer Garden designated for Chillers.

Also, Park Road will be closed between Howell Ave. and Idaho St. on Tuesdays, allowing extra room for food vendors and guests, with food and beverages ready to serve by 5 p.m.
