MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Children's Hospital of Wisconsin will upgrade and expand its surgery space and emergency department.
The $265 million project will include two components: a new six-story, 237,000-square-foot addition for specialty clinics and surgical services between the north side of the hospital and the Children’s Clinics Building on Connell Drive; and the renovation and expansion of the Emergency Department and pediatric Level I trauma center.
Children's says the most visible part of the project will be the addition to the north side of the hospital. The new project will also allow all surgical services to be on one floor.
Work on the addition is expected to begin in late 2018 or early 2019 with completion in 2021. The renovation of the Emergency Department is slated to start in 2019 with completion in 2022.
