Meet CBS 58’s Pet of the Week: Teddy
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A new children’s book aims to help young readers with medical challenges feel seen and valued.
"Perfect Through and Through," written by Shelby Vincent, features characters based on real children with medical differences. The story emphasizes that everyone is perfect as they were created and that differences are part of what make people unique.
Vincent joined us on Tuesday, Aug. 12 to share that the book was inspired by her daughter, Nyomi, who was born with a rare tumor that caused nerve damage. When Nyomi asked when she would be "normal," Vincent sought to redefine the term for her and others.
Vincent hopes the book will encourage conversations about medical differences and promote acceptance of all people.
