Chicago businessman donates $200K in free gas across the city

CHICAGO, Ill. (CBS 58) -- First it was St. Louis, now it's Chicago.

Millionaire businessman and ex-mayoral candidate Dr. Willie Wilson donated $200,000 worth of free gas across the city.

Gas stations were backed up as people filled their tanks. Even the police had to step in to help direct traffic.

Every vehicle at participating gas stations got $50 until all the money was exhausted.

"I'm hoping that other businesses, maybe corporations, I'm hoping politicians can roll back the taxes so people can get to work," said Wilson. "If you can't get to work, you can't support a family."

Wilson said he's likely going to do the same thing again in about 30 days or so.
