Charges filed, boyfriend accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend near 39th and Cherry

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- An 18-year-old is facing charges in connection to a deadly shooting of 17-year-old Jalerian McDade that occurred one day into the citywide celebration of "Peace Week."
The shooting occurred near 39th and Cherry on May 6.
According to a criminal complaint, detectives met with a friend of McDade, who stated that she drove McDade to N. 40th and Cherry St. so she could meet up with her boyfriend, Zamaury Waheed.
The complaint says Waheed exited an unknown house from the area and entered the car. McDade and Waheed sat in the backseat of the 2008 Ford Taurus, where officials say they began to argue over accusations of infidelity.
According to the friend, she exited the car and once outside she heard McDade say, "Boy, stop playing with me," before hearing a single gunshot.
The complaint says she ran to the rear driver's side where she witnessed Waheed tuck a black handgun inside of his waistband and then run away.
Waheed has been charged with:
- Second degree reckless homicide by use of a dangerous weapon
- Possession of a firearm by adjudicated delinquent
