MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The city of Milwaukee has a newly updated park. Milwaukee Recreation hosted a ribbon-cutting for Burnham Playfield Wednesday morning as a grand reopening.
The park is located on the south side in the middle of Burnham Park and it underwent some extensive renovations including new shade trees, a synthetic turf soccer field, playground and more.
"Burnham rose to the top of the list for a number of reasons, including the fact that it was developed into a playfield in 1925. And while there have been minor improvements over the last 90-plus years, we believe this to be the first major renovation to the site," said Lyn Greb, Milwaukee Recreation director.
Later in the summer the city will update the fieldhouse with new windows, doors and restroom facilities.
