WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- October is National Pizza Month. Maggio's is celebrating for the first time as a business. It opened its doors in February of this year, when Jeremy Maggio turned his pizza passion into a wood-fired pizza restaurant. 

"I kind of developed my own style a little bit, where we like to have a bit crispier of a crust," said Maggio. 

It was 2015 when he decided to take a leap of faith and build his first oven. He saved up all of his dough from caterings to finally open his first restaurant in 2023. 

"We like to play with non-traditional ingredients," said Maggio. "We have a raclette pizza using raclette cheese from Alpinage, right here in Oak Creek. We have a jerk chicken pizza -- we make the ranch base for that; we make the jerk marinade for that." 

Jeremy's business partner, Andy Fries, brings his long-time restaurant experience to Maggio's, and it's a "pizza cake" as the two create a traditional Italian style bistro together. 

Maggio's is open Tuesday through Sunday. They offer brunch on the weekends. As of this weekend, they're also serving some traditional Italian cocktails.
