Celebrate 'National Homemade Cookie Day' with Lakeside Cookie Co.

CEDARBURG, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Wednesday, Oct. 1, is National Homemade Cookie Day. Whether you want to bake from scratch or grab some take-n-bake cookies from Lakeside Cookie Co., it's the perfect day to indulge in the gooey, chewy goodness of a cookie.
Lakeside Cookie Co. offered up some tips to CBS 58 for those who want to make their own dough and even frosting.
"You always want to use a cold butter. It's always going to help the cookie come together better. Letting the dough sit for a bit is always a good tip so that the flavor can kind of meld and everything can just come together," said Sue Felder, the owner of Lakeside Cookie Co.
With holiday cookie baking right around the corner, you may want to make your own frosting. For that, Felder says you'll want softened butter.
"For buttercream, the trick is to really mix it well. So, you start with a soft butter, and you just have that creamy, creamy base, so you just keep mixing it until all the sugar is [mixed well]. You don't want the sugar granules; you don't want to feel it. Nobody wants to bite into a grainy frosting."
Lakeside has two locations you can visit for take-n-bake cookies -- the original bakery in Cedarburg and one at the Mequon Public Market.
You can also find them at the Menomonee Falls Farmers Market tonight, Oct. 1, and at tonight's last Milwaukee Night Market of the season.
