CDC: Listeria outbreak linked to peaches, nectarines and plums sold nationwide

(CBS 58) -- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is warning of a listeria outbreak linked to peaches, nectarines and plums sold nationwide. The CDC says 11 people have been infected with the outbreak from seven states; 10 were hospitalized and one person has died.

According to a news release, laboratory findings and interviews with sick people show whole peaches, nectarines, and plums distributed by HMC Farms are to blame for the outbreak.

HMC Farms recalled the products sold in 2022 and 2023 between May 1 and Nov. 15.

Recalled fruit should no longer be in stores but may still be in people's homes.

The CDC is encouraging people to check their kitchen, refrigerators and freezers for recalled fruit. Do not eat them and throw them away.
