(CBS 58) -- It was the final week of the regular high school football season.

WEEK 9 RECAP

A season of thrilling comebacks and dominant performances came to a close Friday night with week 9 of the high school football season in Southeast Wisconsin. Some teams get a ‘second season’ starting next week in the playoffs. Other teams were going for something really special Friday night – an undefeated regular season. Here’s a breakdown of the games we featured on the last Friday Night Rivals of 2018.

Homestead 35, Slinger 14

Homestead finished up its undefeated season with a resounding win at home against Slinger (7-2). Logan Homberg and Connor Goodwin hooked up on a 94 yard touchdown strike in the second half to ice the win.

Muskego 28, Mukwonago 21

Muskego’s perfect season nearly came to an end at the hands of a tough Mukownago squad, but Muskego held on for the home win and the 9-0 season. Alex Current rushed for a 40 yard touchdown for Muskego, and Hunter Wohler had a late interception in the end zone to help seal the win.

Catholic Memorial 27, Waukesha West 20

The Catholic Memorial Crusaders (8-1) fend off upset-minded Waukesha West in their regular season finale. Tate Kopulos ran for a score to help the Crusaders end the regular season with just one blemish, a 28-27 loss to Muskego in week 4.

In addition to Homestead and Muskego, five other local teams finished the regular season with an undefeated record: Franklin, New Berlin Eisenhower, Marquette University HS, Lake Country Lutheran and Racine St. Catherine’s.

The playoffs start next week and run until November 15th and 16th, when the state champions are decided at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.
