WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Mike Budziszewski celebrated his one year anniversary as head coach of the Carroll football team in style.
“Still undefeated as a head coach, so that's exciting."
Two months after he was hired, the coronavirus pandemic hit. Games were wiped off the table completely, but Budziszewski made the best of a bad situation.
“We had a chance to get better each and every day. That’s been a blessing. The plans that we put in place as a football staff to keep our kids safe and insulated and healthy really came to fruition and we had an opportunity to not have to shut down at all."
Without any positive tests, the Pioneers were able to spend four weeks practicing and another four weeks in the weight room in 2020. Laying the foundation for the future.
“Developing a culture. Establishing the way we want to run this team. The way that we need to be successful.”
The Pioneers are planning for a normal season in 20-21. They’re even getting a head start before the Fall semester with a few exhibition games planned this spring. Scott Grodsky, CBS 58 Sports.
