Carmen High School Creates 'Empowerment Circle' to Celebrate Women's Day

MILWAUKEE - Female students at Carmen High School recognized International Women's Day by lifting up one another. The students gathered in the school's courtyard for an "Empowerment Circle" where they were asked to say positive things about themselves and each other.

"Right now, society teaches our girls to compete, that they are not valued, it causes them to question their self-worth. It is small moments like that bring young women together with adult women all at the same time just to recognize the important role of the woman," said Jendora Kelley, Community Coach at Carmen High School.

About three hundred students took part in the "Empowerment Circle" today.
