Burton, Dawson to transfer from Marquette

Sophomores Deonte Burton and John Dawson have told Marquette that they'll be leaving the basketball team when the fall semester ends Sunday. Both players will be transferring.

Marquette coach Steve Wojciechowski says “we appreciate all that Deonte and John have contributed to the program since our staff arrived in April. We will do everything we can to help them make the next step in their respective careers and wish them nothing but the best in the future.”

Burton averaged a little more than six points per game this season. The MU program will gain a transfer player soon as well, as center Luke Fischer becomes eligible in time for the Golden Eagles' next game December 16th against Arizona State.
