Burglar Enters Home While Residents Sleep

The residents of a home on Janesville’s east side awoke to an unwanted guest this morning and it wasn’t Santa Claus.

According to the Janesville Police, the residents of a house in the 3900 block of Southwyck Court were awakened by a noise in the house.  When the homeowner checked out the noise, they saw a door closing.   Police say it appears the house had been burglarized while the residents were sleeping.   According to the police report, the suspect entered the home through an unlocked garage service door.  The burglar apparently rummaged through Christmas presents and stole items from a purse.   A K-9 unit tracked the suspect to the area of Rugar and Greendale were officers discovered several unlocked vehicles that had also been entered.

The Janesville Police said this is the second burglary of this type on the east side of Janesville in the last several days.  The Police are urging residents to lock their homes and vehicles to prevent similar crimes of opportunity.

Anyone with information about these burglaries can call Janesville Crimestoppers at 608-756-3636.
