Burglar alarm helps catch suspect in Shorewood

A Shorewood resident was alerted of an attempted burglary early Sunday morning in the 2700 block of Newton by their alarm system. After calling the police, the suspect was taken into custody.

The burglar was observed in the resident's garage shortly before 5 a.m. on Sunday. The resident called police, resulting in a multi-agency search of the suspect.

The suspect attempted to steal a car in the 3500 block of N. Frederick Ave. to get away but was apprehended by the police.
