'Building something new can get messy': Company behind Port Washington data center hosts free car wash
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- CBS 58 have been hearing from upset neighbors in Port Washington for months now.
They are upset with traffic, light pollution and dirt kicked up by the construction of a huge data center.
Vantage, the company building that data center, hosted a free car wash Saturday, Feb. 28.
A flyer Vantage used to advertise the event read, "building something new can get messy."
People in the area are upset about the nonstop parade of dump trucks carrying dirt and gravel to and from the construction site.
Those residents say the trucks are noisy and case road damage.
CBS 58 talked to one man who lives across the street from the data center. He tells us dirt and dust get on his windows and deck and he has to get his car washed more frequently.
"It's nice that they offered the car wash today. It's a steppingstone that they want to try to please the people that live around the data center," said Stuart Allen.
However, not everyone is accepting this as an olive branch from Vantage.
Some critics on social media have dismissed the car wash as simply a P.R. move.
