CBS 58

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — While much of the NBA's attention has shifted to Giannis Antetokounmpo's introduction with the Miami Heat, the Milwaukee Bucks officially re-signed guard Gary Trent Jr. on Thursday.

The Bucks announced Trent's signing, with ESPN reporting the four-year contract is worth $64 million.

Following the announcement, ESPN reported the NBA is reviewing the circumstances surrounding the deal. ESPN's Tim MacMahon said, "There is no logical explanation for the Milwaukee Bucks agreeing to this contract this summer. The only logical explanation would be something nefarious."

A Bucks spokesperson told CBS 58 the team is aware of the reported review and declined further comment.

Trent has spent the past two seasons with Milwaukee, averaging 9.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. He has posted a Player Efficiency Rating of 10.2 with the Bucks. Player Efficiency Rating, or PER, is a per-minute statistic in which the league average is 15.
