Brookfield woman rescued after car goes into retention pond in Menomonee Falls

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A driver is rescued after a car leaves the road and goes into a retention pond in Menomonee Falls.

It happened Monday night near Pilgrim Road and Creekwood Crossing. Authorities say the 70-year-old Brookfield woman crossed the median and drove into the pond. She was helped to safety by first responders and taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Rescuers were also treated at the scene for minor bumps and bruises. Officials say recent heavy rain does not appear to have been a factor in the crash and that the cause is still under investigation.
