Brookfield singer/songwriter Nora Collins opening Chicks with Picks fundraiser concert for Susan G. Komen Foundation

A longtime friend to CBS 58 News, Brookfield singer/songwriter Nora Collins, was a special live guest on the CBS 58 News at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The regular features seeks to bring attention to good works by local people to give viewers a balance of stories and a complete perspective of the place we call home.

Collins just enjoyed one of her biggest gigs yet; opening for Phil Vassar and the 21 year old has just returned from a trip to Nashville where she penned a slew of new songs.

At the tender age of 21, Collins' lyrics about female self empowerment have resonated with a diverse group of music lovers and one song in particular is taking on special meaning during October which is breast cancer awareness month.

"What You See is What You Get" will be part of her set when she opens the Chicks with Picks Concert, Saturday, October 17th and the Red Rock Saloon in Milwaukee.

It's a sold out show already with proceeds benefiting the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research, awareness, and survivor support.

Collins says she loves Wisconsin and is content to keep it as her base. Although there is no doubt much bigger stages are calling in her future.

We've attached a sample of her live performance.
