Brookfield police: Suspects attack man leaving Target in fight over sports trading cards

BROOKFIELD (CBS 58) -- Police say charges will be filed against four men accused of attacking a man outside Target on Friday, May 7.

Authorities say it happened around 8:20 a.m. at the store on Bluemound Road in Brookfield.

Callers reported several people fighting outside the store entrance, including one individual armed with a handgun.

An investigation revealed that a 35-year-old man was physically assaulted as he left the store, by four men ranging in age from 23-35.

The altercation is believed to have stemmed from a disagreement involving the purchase of sports trading cards from Target. 

During the assault, the victim, who police say is a valid concealed carry weapon holder, was able to access his firearm, at which point his attackers fled on foot. 

No shots were fired. 

Police say all four attackers were located in the surrounding area and taken into custody.

The victim suffered minor injuries which did not require medical attention on the scene. 

Charges consisting of battery, strangulation and disorderly conduct will be presented to the Waukesha County District Attorney's Office.
