MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Bronzeville week, an annual event celebrating the historically African American Milwaukee neighborhood, kicked off on Saturday, Aug. 7.
Dozens of people participated in the mornings Harunbee 5K walk or run for healthy birth outcomes. Black babies are more likely to die than white babies from health complications.
Organizers and runners say the event aims to raise awareness on this nationwide problem.
"This walk run gives everyone the opportunity to learn, how they can get involved, save and preserve the lives of our your black babies," Milwaukee runner Ranell Washington said.
