Brewers win intense marathon of a game

PITTSBURGH - The Brewers and Pirates played an intense, exhausting battle Sunday at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, but in the end, it was the Brewers picking up the win - and the momentum.

Khris Davis' solo home run in the 14th inning gave the Brewers a 3-2 win, giving Milwaukee its 9th road win in ten games, the best road mark to start a season since the 1994 Atlanta Braves.

Ryan Braun tied the game with a 9th inning home run, his second straight ninth inning blast off Jason Grilli.

Benches cleared in the third inning when Carlos Gomez hit a triple off the center field wall. Gomez, thinking he had hit a home run, stopped to admire the blast for a second, and Pirates pitcher Gerrit Cole took exception, sparking a melee that will likely result in suspensions for Gomez and Brewers catcher Martin Maldonado, who threw a punch in the melee.
