Brewers sign 1B Carter

The Brewers signed first baseman Chris Carter to a one-year contract Wednesday. Reports say the deal is worth $2.5 million for the former Houston Astro.

Carter was known in Houston for his power, slamming 61 home runs over the last two seasons with the Astros. Carter hit .199 last season and has never hit higher than .227 in a full season.

The Brewers had a need at first base after trading Adam Lind to the Mariners in the offseason.
