MILWUAKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Brewers are making an effort to give back to the needy, in a collaborative effort to help families who face housing insecurities.

During their Beyond the Diamond event at American Family Field on Wednesday, March 27, the team's front office distributed care packages to five local partners, including Dominican Center, Pathfinders, The Cathedral Center, UMOS Latina Resource Center and the Center for Vet Issues.

Each of those partners were selected to receive 200 care packages along with a $5,000 grant to support the basic needs of the people they support.

Maricha Harris, Executive Director of the Dominican Center, spoke about the impact of the contributions, saying, "Sometimes, giving someone something as small as soap and a toothbrush, a towel could mean so much when they have a lot of challenges that they're already navigating."

Cecelia Gore, Executive Director of the Brewers Community Foundation, discussed the value of collaborating for the community. She said, "We're just proud to come together and do something that makes a difference, and we'll do that all season long."

The care packages include kits that contain lip balm, hand sanitizer, hygiene products, along with some Brewers swag.
