BREAKING: Milwaukee Medical Examiner Investigating Suspicious Death of an Infant on the Northside

The Milwaukee Medical Examiner is investigating a death of a 1.5-month-old infant on the 2300 block of N. 54th street on the city's northwest side.

The female infant was injured in her home on Sunday and passed away Monday at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.

The Medical Examiner began its investigation into a suspicious death on Tuesday. 

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.

Milwaukee Police are investigating an incident that happened on Saturday, October 1st, around 10:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of N. 54th Street.

According to police, the mother was believed to be under the influence of narcotics at the time of this incident and was arrested. 

A one-and-a-half month old female child was sleeping next to her 30-year old mother on a couch.  While sleeping, the mother’s body slouched down onto the child causing the child to lose consciousness. 

The child was transported to a local hospital by the mother for treatment of serious injuries.  The child died from her injuries on Monday, October 3rd. 

The case will be presented to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for charges.
