BREAKING: Man arrested in connection with Aug. 14 shooting death in Waukesha

Waukesha Police have arrested a man that they believed is connected to a fatal shooting back on August 14th.

Police obtained a search warrant on Wednesday night for an apartment in the 700 block of E. St. Paul Avenue. A 35-year-old man whose identity is not being revealed at this time was alone in the apartment and as officers surrounded the residence they observed the suspect harm himself by using an edged weapon.

Officers were able to enter the apartment and take the suspect safely into custody without harm to them or further harm to him. He has been transported to a local hospital and the extent of his injuries is unknown.

The victim of the August 14th shooting was identified as 40-year-old Kevin Hueman of Waukesha, a married father of a six-month-old child. He was fatally shot outside his family home on E. North St. and Albert St. Earlier this week, police had announced a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Hueman's killer. It's unclear whether any tips led them to obtain the warrant they executed.

Waukesha Police Chief Russell Jack says he will hold a press conference at 9 a.m. Thursday morning at the Waukesha Police Department with the latest information in the case.
