Brain scans could help better predict behavior

Brain scans could help better predict behavior, according to a new study published in the latest edition of \"Neuron\". Doctors say they might have more success treating some patients if they examined the way the person's brain functioned first.

Researchers say the results of the scans could tell doctors whether patients would respond better to drugs or to behavior modification or whether they might have an adverse reaction to certain medications. This would be helpful in treating a variety of conditions from depression to cigarette addiction.

Experts say the technology could become as common for determining human behavior as blood tests currently are for determining disease.
