MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Blessings in a Backpack Southern Wisconsin will host a bracket-style food packing competition called "Race to Feed" on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
Susie Reed, managing director of Blessings in a Backpack, and Diana Schmidt, board member, joined us Monday, Dec. 8, to discuss the unique event.
The competition features head-to-head matches to see which team can pack food bags the fastest, with each team competing at least four times. People can participate for $50 and will be placed on a team. Teams of up to 10 people can register for $250.
Spectators can attend for $25. Registration is open through Dec. 31.
The event will pack 10,000 bags of food to provide weekend nutrition to 3,000 children who are food insecure.
