There's a push in Madison to protect certain inmates from harsher punishment.
A group of lawmakers introduced a bill that would prohibit detention facilities from putting inmates with mental illness in solitary confinement.
They argue it not only puts inmates at risk but also employees. Under current state law, there are no restrictions on solitary confinement.
