MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee's Big Clean MKE is coming back this Saturday, Oct. 29.
It's a citywide cleanup created in memory of city worker Greg "Ziggy" Zyskiewicz, who was killed on the job five years ago during an attempted carjacking robbery.
"He was unfortunately killed in my district, but he loved to clean. He loved to see a clean community, so we got together as a counsel and as a department of neighborhood services and decided what can we do to honor Ziggy," said District 15 Alderman, Russell Stamper II.
Big Clean was suspended during the pandemic, but it returns Saturday from 11:30 a.m.- 3 p.m. at several locations around Milwaukee.
"You got to have a clean community to be prideful and I thought that was the most important thing to slow down crime and be a part of your neighborhood," said Stamper.
If you want to volunteer, the tools and supplies will be provided, and there's a luncheon for the volunteers at 3 p.m.
Rally points for cleanups include: Butterfly Park, 37th and Meinecke; Running Rebels, 1300 W. Fond du Lac Ave.; Safe and Sound, 24th and Vine; Near West Side Partners, 29th and Clybourn; Riverworks Development Corporation, SE corner of Booth and Locust; Westcare, 4th and Wright; Southside Organizing Center, cleanups in Muskego Way, Clarke Square, Lincoln Village, Historic Mitchell Street, Walker Square Park and Baran Park.
